Role Overview: Responsible for operating cash registers, processing transactions, and assisting customers with bagging purchases while providing courteous service. Handles a variety of products, including groceries, produce, and frozen foods.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate cash registers and scanners to itemize and total purchases accurately.
- Process payments via cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, loyalty cards, gift certificates, coupons, and rain checks.
- Weigh and bag customer purchases with care.
- Understand and operate check-stand equipment efficiently.
- Perform front-end duties such as merchandising and maintaining product signage.
- Communicate store programs, sales, and promotions effectively to customers.
- Adhere to security, cash handling, and food safety policies.
- Maintain a clean, stocked, and safe environment, following sanitation and safety standards.
- Assist with stocking and other departmental tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior retail experience is a plus.
- Strong verbal communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
Physical & Environment Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and work in varied store temperatures and conditions. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
