Role Overview: Responsible for operating the cash register and electronic scanner to process customer transactions, handle various payment methods, and assist with bagging purchases while delivering courteous customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate checkout equipment to itemize and total purchases, including dry goods, produce, dairy, and meats.
- Process payments accurately via cash, checks, credit cards, food stamps, WIC, and loyalty programs.
- Weigh and bag customer items, ensuring proper product identification and signage accuracy.
- Maintain knowledge of store programs, promotions, and product locations to assist customers effectively.
- Communicate store policies, specials, and coupons while upholding high service standards.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and well-stocked department, adhering to safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Assist with stocking and perform other assigned tasks based on customer needs.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior retail experience is a plus.
- Strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
Physical & Environment Requirements: Ability to lift up to 30 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods, and work in varied temperatures and conditions typical of retail environments.
