Role Overview
An Assistant Meat Team Leader supports the Meat Manager in supervising the Meat Department, managing team members, handling orders, and implementing merchandising strategies to drive business growth, meet customer needs, and maximize profits.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in running department operations, including ordering, assigning tasks, and maintaining conditions.
- Help provide customers with diverse meat cuts and ensure sales case stock levels by inspecting and preparing products.
- Follow proper procedures to meet out-of-stock goals and promote team member development for management growth.
- Unloading, checking, and stocking deliveries in cooler and freezer, maintaining cold-chain processes.
- Ensure safety standards are met per health, HACCP, OSHA, and company policies, modeling safe work practices.
- Share food knowledge, demonstrate suggestive selling, and prioritize exceptional customer service.
- Foster a diverse, inclusive environment, and maintain cleanliness and sanitation of equipment and workspaces.
Qualifications & Skills
- 3 to 5 years of experience, preferably with management background in Meat operations or related field.
- Customer service experience and knowledge of Meat operational procedures.
- Ability to read Profit and Loss statements.
- High school diploma or equivalent; meat cutting certification required.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; minimum age of 18.
